John J. Kirkpatrick, IV is a native of Marshville, NC. He is the product of Union County Public Schools by way of District 1.


John J. Kirkpatrick, IV “JJK” graduated from Forest Hills Hight School, home of the Yellow Jackets and went on to received a BA in Political Science from Morris College. John returned home to begin his career working with youth and families in the community.  His experience includes working as a teacher assistant at Morgan School (CMS), a Family Advocate at Druid Hills Elementary (CMS), site coordinator for Communities and Schools and upon moving to Richmond County was the first Executive Director of Communities in Schools.  


Mr. Kirkpatrick, relocated back to Union County where he began working as a substitute teacher in District 1 and later as a Teacher Assistance at Wingate Elementary and East Union Middle School within the exceptional children’s department.  John has over 15 years of serving children, families and communities.  


He currently works with Transforming Youth Movement (TYM) as the Coordinator of Community Service, a nonprofit that helps change the lives of at-risk young people in Mecklenburg, Union and Cabarrus counties.  TYM is inspiring positive social change and community transformation for youth through community service. 


John is married to Natalie Kirkpatrick. John is the founder and CEO of The Village Development Center and founding senior pastor of Rehoboth Church of Monroe, NC.


John J. Kirkpatrick, IV is a husband, fatheradvocate for success, educator and faith leader in Union County, North Carolina.  He has a heart to empower his community – the community that reared and encouraged him all his life.  He is committed to serving all, no matter their background or current situation.  



In March 2021 he was appointed to the Union County Board of Education for District 1.
